In Roman times, criminals, Rome’s enemies, slaves and many innocent people were sent to the galleys for life. Fortunately, this inhumane punishment exists no more and nowadays, galleys are only built to participate in the well-known Regatta of Land-Galleys. In these races, oars are the only propulsion system available and the rudder consists of a wheel that permits heading for the desired course.
Roman Galleys is one of the most complete events in the market owing to the amount of team working abilities that must be put into practice; the spectacular vision of the regatta; the scenery displayed, and also the technical complexity of the preparations.
